Revisiting the Hyundai pavilion at Delhi Auto Expo
Hyundai India has been successful in stealing the spotlight at the 2023 Auto Expo, which finally returned after a two-year hiatus. From Pathaan unleashing the Ioniq 5 to the crazy robot dog flaunting its moves, the Hyundai pavilion was a joy for all the fans.
Hyundai Ioniq 5
The South Korean automaker finally launched the much-awaited, all-electric Ioniq 5 in India. How did they do it? Well, they pulled the veil off in the presence of Pathaan himself, who’s none other than Mr. Shah Rukh Khan. King Khan has been carrying the mantle of brand ambassador for Hyundai India for years now and marks his presence in every major launch event. More images of these can be found here.
The Ioniq 5 is the second electrified product in Hyundai India’s product portfolio, following the Kona EV. It’s also the founding member of “Ioniq”, which is Hyundai’s electric sub-brand.
The Ioniq 5 is based on the E-GMP architecture. The India-spec model packs a single motor setup with 217 HP and 350 Nm, and gets a 72.6 kWh battery pack with a WLTP-certified range of 481km. It supports 800V multi-high speed charging which can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. The introductory price starts at ₹44.95 Lakhs.

Hyundai Ioniq 6
Along with the Ioniq 5, Hyundai also brought the oh-so-cool-looking Ioniq 6 – the production version of the Prophecy Concept that was showcased at the Auto Expo back in 2020. It’s underpinned by the E-GMP skateboard architecture, which also serves as the foundation for the Ioniq 5.
It is available with 2 options for the battery. It comes in a single motor, rear-wheel drive configuration as standard with higher versions receiving a dual motor, all-wheel drive setup as option. The range varies from 453-614km depending on the configuration. Hyundai has zero plans to launch the Ioniq 6 anytime soon. However, you can still drool over the Ioniq 6 in images here.

Hyundai Nexo FCEV
Hyundai showcased the Nexo hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle at the 2023 Auto Expo. This was Nexo’s second appearance at the Auto Expo, as it was first brought to the show back in 2020. It’s a futuristic-looking crossover that has similar proportions to the Hyundai Tucson. It packs a 95 kW hydrogen fuel cell and a 40 kWh battery pack. The electric motor produces 161 HP and 395Nm of Torque. The Nexo has a WLTP-certified range of 666 Km.
Boston Dynamics Spot
The people at the Hyundai stand also got to witness a four-legged robot dog in action. It’s an AI-powered robot that was created by Boston Dynamics, an American engineering and robotics design company that was acquired by Hyundai back in 2021. Hyundai is using this robot to monitor its factory.
It boasts features like autonomous navigation, an integrated thermal camera, 3D LiDAR, remote control technology, etc. The robot is controlled remotely through a secure web page that provides a live stream of its movements inside the plant. It even detects hazards and delivers alarms to managers through the web page.
Other Models
Hyundai also had the Tucson and the Alcazar grabbing the spotlight from a corner of the stand. The brand also had stuff like a Carbon footprint calculator, a life-scale model of the E-GMP architecture, Metaverse hub, etc. for the fans to explore and experience. The much-anticipated reveal of the new Verna, however, did not happen at the Expo this time!
