Tata Motors has revealed the facelifted Harrier and Safari with a host of changes on the exterior and interior. Exterior styling is now more attractive and the cabin gets cosmetic updates and minor feature revamps. On the mechanical front, the new Tata Harrier and Safari remain unchanged. Both continue to be powered by the Fiat-sourced diesel engine with the same output figures as before. 6-speed manual and 6AT gearboxes are available on the facelifted models as well.

New Harrier And Safari Facelift: What’s New?

The new Tata Harrier and facelifted Safari get extensive changes to their exterior styling. As the facelift rolls out, the Harrier and Safari get more distinct differentiations from each other. Previously, both these SUVs used to have a lot in common- in terms of design. The pre-facelift Safari was but a ‘Grown Up Harrier’!

For 2023, however, the Harrier and Safari get distinctive changes on their front fascias. Everything from the front bumper, headlights, air intakes, and grille have been redesigned.

2023 Tata Harrier Facelift:

The new Tata Harrier gets a thoroughly redesigned front fascia. The bumper is now split into distinctive upper and lower portions. The grille has now grown broader and looks more attractive. There is now a full-width LED light bar, redesigned headlamps, and fresh-looking central air intake. You might end up finding design cues from the new Nexon at various places on the facelifted Harrier.

The new Harrier also gets a new set of five-spoke alloy wheels. While most of the rear design might seem familiar, a number of noteworthy changes have happened here. The tail lamps now get new, better-looking LED details, which make them look sleeker than before. The rear bumper is new as well.

Interesting here, is the fact that the new Harrier gets little to no changes to its sheet metal. Most of the rework here is confined to soft plastic parts.

The cabin of Harrier facelift sees some tasteful improvements. There is now a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system (12.3-inch on the top-spec and 10.23 on lower trims). The pre-facelift’s faux wood trims are now gone. The dashboard now has a textured top panel, gloss Black surfaces, and leatherette trims. The new car also comes with LED ambient lighting.

Equipment additions on the new Tata Harrier include animated LED DRLs, dual-zone climate control, 10-speaker JBL audio, paddle shifters, rear window sunshades, ventilated and powered front seats with memory function. Features like gesture-controlled tailgate operation, wireless charger, 360 camera, and panoramic sunroof have been retained from the pre-facelift.

Tata Harrier facelift now offers 7 airbags on the top variants, while 6 airbags are standard across the range.

2023 Tata Safari Facelift:

The new Safari is now more differentiated from the Harrier. It gets a new, broader grille, which has unique inserts. These can also be found on the central air intakes. The Safari’s headlamps are rectangular and now sit higher than those on the Harrier. There is a full-width LED lightbar as well.

The updated Safari also gets a new set of 19-inch alloy wheels. The rear gets a new tail lamp design and LED light bar. The rear bumper is now cleaner!

On the inside, the new Safari gets more design identity. The dashboard now gets a different finish. The cabin in general, looks plush and classy. Colors, trims, and materials differ between the updated Harrier and Safari. The facelift also adds ventilated second-row seats to the Safari.

New Tata Harrier And Safari Facelift: Revised Variant Names

Tata Motors’ new personality-based trim naming system has been introduced on the new Harrier and Safari facelift. 2023 Tata Harrier comes in Smart, Pure, Adventure, and Fearless trims, while the new Safari is available in smart, Pure, Adventure, and Accomplished trim options.

Each of these trims has its own color options and interior and exterior accents. The Harrier gets a cool yellow paint job with yellow accents inside, while Safari gets a cool gold finish. Both Safari and Harrier get Dark editions as well.

Tata Harrier, Safari Facelift Specifications

Both the SUVs continue to be powered by the 2.0L, four-cylinder, diesel engine that churns out 170hp and 350Nm. It is available with a 6-speed manual and 6AT transmissions. It has Terrain Response Modes (Normal, Rough & wet) and selectable drive modes (Eco, City and sports). Plus, Tata Motors says the suspension setup has been tweaked to make it better for our roads.

Tata Harrier, Safari Facelift Mileage: What’s New?

While the key mechanicals remain unchanged, Tata Motors claims to have improved the fuel efficiency of the facelifted Safari and Harrier. The new Tata Harrier is claimed to deliver 16.8 kpl with its 6-speed manual transmission. This is in fact, 0.45 kpl more than the predecessor’s mileage. The automatic Harrier will have no change to its fuel efficiency and will continue to deliver 14.6 kpl.

The updated Safari, on the other hand, gets marginal improvement to its fuel efficiencies on both manual and automatic models. Manual Safari will have a mileage of 16.30kpl (up by 0.14kpl), while the automatic guise will return a fuel efficiency of 14.50kpl, amounting to an increase of 0.42kpl.

Booking, Rivals, And Expected Prices

The facelifted Harrier and Safari are expected to get slight price premiums over their predecessors. The new SUVs will launch on October 17 and bookings are already underway. Upon launch, Tata Harrier facelift will compete with the likes of MG Hector, XUV 700, and Jeep Compass. The new Safari will take on the likes of Scorpio N, Hyundai Alcazar, and MG Hector Plus.
