Aprilia is prepping to take the Maxi scooter market in India by storm. The company has started accepting bookings for the upcoming Aprilia SXR160 in India. The scooter can be booked either online or at the dealerships by paying INR 5000.
The SXR160 is the new premium scooter offering from Piaggio India. The production has already begun at the company’s manufacturing facility in Baramati, Pune, and is now listed on the Aprilia India website.
Think of the SXR 160 as a maxi scooter that has been designed with the Indian market in mind. It was earlier showcased at the Auto Expo 2020, just to be bestowed with so much attention. The bike proved to be so alluring for the masses that it was awarded the ‘Best two-wheeler’ title by the jury ! The SXR160 follows the brand’s latest design quo. The key attractions up front are the swept back, full LED headlights and the flyscreen. It gets a 5.7-inch display for instrumentation with smartphone connectivity. The LED tail lights and signature graphics further add up to the look.
Powering this maxi-scooter will be the 160.03cc three-valve FI engine, producing 11hp at 7600rpm and 11.6Nm at 6000rpm, just the same as in the updated SR160. The suspension is handled by telescopic forks at the front and adjustable shock at the rear. It gets a 220mm disc brake and conventional drum brake at the front and back respectively, coupled with single-channel ABS. The price details aren’t known yet, but we expect it to be priced around Rs. 1,25000 (ex-showroom).
