Ather 450X now comes in two battery capacities
Indian electric two-wheeler major Ather Energy has revamped its domestic product portfolio. The manufacturer has launched a new entry-level variant into the 450 series of electric scooters, dubbed Ather 450S.
Priced at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-sh), Ather 450S is now the most affordable product from the Indian brand. It is being pitched as an electric alternative to 125cc petrol scooters and is claimed to offer comparable performance levels. It comes with a 2.9 kWh battery pack, 0-40 kph time of 3.9 seconds and a real-world range of 90 km. Ather 450 S supports charging speeds of up to ‘1.5km/min’. The powertrain also gets a coasting regen for added energy efficiency.
The new 450S electric scooter does not pack as many features as the 450X Pro Pack. It comes with a new 7-inch ‘DeepView’ dashboard instead of the familiar touchscreen, a more-convenient joystick controller, hotkey for reverse assist, Fallsafe tech, ‘Emergency Stop Signal’, smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth and ‘inbox-to-scooter’ delivery of data and info.
While most of the design remains untouched, the rear mud flap has been redesigned on the 450S, and now offers better splatter protection. The 450S can also be had with the Pro Pack which will unlock things like selectable riding modes and Ather Connect. 450S Deliveries are expected to begin by last week of August.
Major Revamp For Ather Portfolio
Alongside its new product launch, Ather has given its product lineup a sizeable update. The 450X , which was made the base-spec Ather by the April update, has now been further diversified. The 450X now comes with a smaller battery pack – the 2.9 kWh unit from the newly launched scooter, and at a slightly lower price point. This would be sold alongside the 3.7 kWh 450X. Both the 450X and 450S can be had with Pro packs as well. Below are the ex-showroom prices of the updated Ather portfolio:
