The petrol powered Hyundai Elantra BS6 had been launched a few months back, and now comes the diesel
The new Hyundai Elantra has gone BS6 with a primary focus on fuel efficiency. Hyundai now offers two variants of Elantra diesel, SX (Manual 6 speed transmission) and SX(O) (Automatic Transmission), priced at 18.7 lakhs and 20.65 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. The new model will be powered by a smaller 1.5L U2 engine producing 115ps @4000 rpm and 250 Nm torque. The same unit powers BS6 Creta and KIA Seltos. The present generation has compromised on performance and will cover it up in terms of fuel efficiency.
The facelifted Elantra features Hyundai’s new design language. It looks a lot more bold and modern. Elantra SX is stuffed with features for the price that it commands. Features like automatic headlamps, electric sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with android auto and apple car play, Hyundai’s blue link connect, cruise control, push-button for start/stop, keyless entry justify the price tag. Elantra SX(O), the top-spec variant additionally houses a 10 way powered driver seat, ventilated front seats, LED headlamps, wireless phone chargers, front parking sensors, and leatherette upholstery works to reinforce the premium feel of this sedan. 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a rear parking camera with sensors are available in both the variants.
Hyundai Elantra BS6 Diesel will now have to face the only rival of this segment; Honda Civic as the other competitors Skoda Octavia and Toyota Corolla Altis are no longer on sale.
The Petrol variants of Elantra have been on sale since 2019 October. There are three variants on offer. Hyundai has discontinued the S variant of Elantra, which makes the present base variant SX trim better equipped than before. This has also resulted in cutting down the price of the remaining trim levels. The three different versions, SX (Manual transmission), SX (Automatic transmission), and SX O (Automatic Transmission) is now cheaper by 79000-89000 rupees. All these are powered by a 2.0 L NU Petrol (BS6) mill, churning out a respectable 152 ps @ 6000 rpm and 192nm of torque.
