Maruti Suzuki To Launch The 2021 Swift Facelift Next Month In India

Maruti Suzuki will launch the 2021 Swift facelift with a few design and equipment upgrades and a whole new engine !

Ever since its inception in 2005, the Swift has been a much-loved model from the Maruti Suzuki. The common man and the enthusiast loved it alike and the manufacturer has sold over 2 million units of the car in just 15 years. The completely revamped, third-generation model that is currently on sale here was introduced back in 2018 and quickly became popular, much like its predecessors. Now, Maruti Suzuki is set to launch the updated 2021 Swift facelift in February. The car has now been spotted testing in India, ahead of the market debut.

While the overall exterior design will remain the same as the outgoing model, the 2021 Swift will receive minor tweaks to keep it fresh but we’ll have to wait for the reveal for the exact details.

On the interior, we don’t expect many changes, apart from the new fabrics for the upholstery. The major share of the features and equipment list will remain the same. The expected equipment array includes a 7.0-inch SmartPlay infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, a rear camera, keyless entry and go, while there would also be things like stylish 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels in the top-spec variant.

The biggest upgrade is, however, the engine. The new Swift will come equipped with the latest generation of the 1.2L petrol engine, K12N DualJet instead of the K12M in the outgoing model. The K12N DualJet four-cylinder petrol mill will churn out a healthy 90hp and 113Nm of torque, a good gain of 7hp over the K12M’s 83hp.

The Swift currently retails at prices ranging between Rs 5.19- Rs 8.02 lakh. With the facelift, the prices will go up by a small margin. (A similar update on the Dzire had previously shown a price hike of Rs 6000-22000.)The all-new Swift will continue to compete against the Ford Figo and the Hyundai Grand I10.
