Morris Garages has set the booking amount for the MG Gloster at INR 1 lakh!
Morris Garages has given out the details of its fourth offering in India, the Gloster. The Chinese owned British brand has now showcased the SUV and has also opened bookings for the same. Interested buyers can now book their Glosters by paying a sum of INR 1 lakh.
MG Gloster is no small SUV. Based on the international Maxus M90, it is almost as large as a Toyota Land Cruiser and comes packed with comparable equipment levels as well. However, in India, the Gloster will apparently be put against the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Alturas G4.
The Gloster would come in four different variants, namely Super, Smart, Sharp, and Savvy. While the entry-spec variant will come as a 7 seater, the rest of the trim levels would all have second-row captain seats and thus be 6 seaters. The fully loaded Savvy trim would have many interesting technologies and features, like ventilates and heated seats, panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, LED headlamps, etc. The Gloster would also be the first vehicle in India to feature Level 1 autonomous driving capabilities. As part of the package, the fully loaded Gloster has hands-free parking, lane departure warning, autonomous emergency braking, front collision warning, adaptive cruise control etc.
Under the hood of the Gloster are two 2.0L diesel engines to choose from. The first gets a single turbocharger and produces 163hp and 375 Nm, while the second has twin turbos and spits out 218hp and 480Nm. The transmission duties are taken care of by an 8-speed automatic unit. The meatier diesel comes with a shift-on-the-fly Four-wheel drive system and selectable drive modes while the smaller engine gets just two-wheel drive.
