It is finally raining roses for Tata Motors in the passenger vehicle business.
August had seen the automotive market entering a healthy revival across India. Things had been really great for Tata Motors too, as the homegrown carmaker sold as many as 35420 units (all sectors combined) in the month. This marks a 21.6% hike from the 29140 units sold in AUG 2019. The PV business alone had had massive leaps ahead in terms of numbers. Tata Motors could sell just 7316 units in AUG 2019. However, in AUG 2020, the manufacturer reported sales of 18583 units pan India. This, in fact, is a MASSIVE growth of 154%! The BS6 range of Tata cars is finding a great number of buyers across the country. The recently launched Tata Nexon EV is also witnessing decent traction in our market.
The CV business, however, had slumped by 28% in AUG 2020, when put against the year-ago figures. Tata Motors could sell just 17889 commercial vehicles this AUG, which is a decent drop from the 24850 units mark of AUG 2019. Passenger carriers reported the greatest drop (68%), followed by CV exports and M&HCVs.
