The new Ford Mustang will host numerous key design tweaks and equipment
Ford Motor Company has announced the return of Mustang for 2021 in India. Ford has been successful with their sales of the Mustang in the international market. The American icon has never failed to impress the management and the customers with its performance, both on and off the road. Ever since its launch in 2016 for Indian roads, more than 450 mustangs have been sold, which is pretty impressive. Mustang thus bags the title for “The most successful GT car to be sold in India”, complimenting its success have always been its muscular and aggressive looks, great performance, comfortable cabin, and the aggressive pricing, making it a head-turner for anyone aspiring to own a performance machine.
Ford seems pretty confident with their variant of the car for India. The management of the company has decided to bring in 5.0L V8 with 450 hp over the more affordable 2.3L 310 hp Ecoboost 4 Cylinder turbo petrol which costs 55 lakhs INR and a flat plane cranked 526 Shelby tuned V8 priced around one crore INR.
The new model will get a new chin with airflow-shaping vanes. The redesigned bonnet becomes more sculpted and has rear-facing vents which add to the sporty and ferocious looks of the car. New LED units take up the headlamps and taillights and the boot has a more noticeable kick up for the spoiler.
The interiors of the car have gone almost digital for this decade. Mustang now features an all-digital instrument cluster that changes its behavior in the track mode. Dedicated display for the spirited driving and everything crucial to stitch some stellar lap timings is offered at a glance. Display transforms with a horizontal tachometer at the central position and the shift indicator lights will aid you to shift up and down if you are racing it in the manual mode.
The digital infotainment system packs all the bells and whistles for 2021 as well. Apple car play, android auto, and several other features are accessible to its users with better display quality than the previous version. The interior plastics would remain the same and there are some visible changes on the door pads and the quality of the seats would go up.
The updated version for India is powerful than before. Under the hood is a powerful and high revving 5.0L V8 which now produces 450 hp @7000 rpm which is 40+ hp over the outgoing engine option. The updates for the car is more track-focused than the street drives. Engineers have managed to add 40 more horsepower to the engine by addition of cast aluminum pistons, forged connecting rods, coil over plug ignition, and dual injectors per cylinder to maximize the output.
All this power is paired with a 10-speed automatic gearbox and a Limited Slip differential at the rear. The 10-speed auto gearbox unit is seen on other Ford cars as well, but in the mustang, it is tuned to deliver a sportier response. There are multiple drive modes on offer, along with paddle shifters, larger 352mm discs at the front with 4 piston calipers for all the required stopping power. This mean-looking performance machine is expected to hit Indian shores in early 2021, at a price tag of 75 Lakh INR.
