Hyundai India is preparing to launch the Exter micro SUV in the coming weeks. The Grand i10-based SUV will battle the likes of Tata Punch and Citroen C3 in the domestic market. The manufacturer has revealed most details of Exter, and the launch is scheduled to happen on July 10, 2023. Expected to be priced in the 5.5-11 lakh range, Hyundai Exter is going to be good-looking, feature-packed and interesting to drive SUV that sits under the Venue, and above the i10. Here are some quick details of it:

- Hyundai Exter is based on the ‘Ai3’ micro SUV concept, and not on the AX1.
- There will be a total of five variants to the Exter, at launch: EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect. The top-spec variant will be packed with features.
- Hyundai Exter has an upright design, and is as tall as it takes to qualify as a micro SUV. Below are the exact dimensions:

- Key design highlights include LED tail lamps, LED headlamps with H pattern DRLs, upright pillar design, well sculpted surfaces and neat body lines, parametric grille, stylish skid plates and black cladding.

- The Exter will borrow its powertrains from the outgoing Grand i10 NiOS. It will feature the familiar 1.2L, four cylinder, NA petrol engine producing 83 hp and 113 Nm, and a CNG unit as well.
- There will be two transmissions on offer on the Exter- a 5 speed manual and 5 speed AMT. Exter CNG will be available with the manual gearbox alone.
- The Exter is underpinned by the same platform as the outgoing Grand i10 NIOS and Aura. However, the suspension is said to have improved on the upcoming car.
- The micro SUV will have a slew of attractive features on offer. The interior gets a clean and elegant design and layout.
- Fully digital instrument cluster is to be expected. The design and layout could resemble the one on all new Verna. The display would offer a plethora of information to the driver.
- Hyundai Exter micro SUV has cruise control on offer.
- The 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system would be familiar to i10 owners. The unit comes with Android Auto, Apple Carplay, connected car tech, voice commands and offers ‘Sounds of Nature’- a familiar sight in modern-day Hyundais.
- Infotainment display also houses an onboard navigation system.

- Expect ample room inside. The seats get comfortable design, and get sporty semi-leatherette upholstery.
- Hyundai Exter would offer more leg room at the rear, than the Grand i10.
- The micro SUV will also feature a first-in-segment, built-in dash camera unit. We had previously seen this feature on the Venue N Line.
- Topping the list of features is a single-pane electric sunroof.
