The recently launched Hyundai Creta outsells Kia Seltos in June, as the lockdown eases in India.
As the pandemic-triggered lockdown eases in India, the automobile industry is gaining momentum again. Here is an instance of a healthy sibling rivalry. the recently launched Hyundai Creta is finding a decent number of buyers here. The Creta had been launched in India just prior to the Coronavirus associated lockdown and we were skeptical about its success to some extent.
The strongest competition for the car is from the Kia Seltos, essentially its Kia born sibling. As the reports reveal, the Hyundai Creta has outsold the Seltos in June. While the Seltos managed to sell 7,114 units in June, Hyundai sold an impressive 7,207 units of the Creta.
On the YoY scale, the demand for the Creta has been decent. The first-gen Creta had sold 8,334 units in June 2019. Of course, that is a drop there, but taking into consideration the current scenario in the automotive arena, the same could be neglected and the demand called decent. As for the Seltos, it is still too early to come up with an YoY analysis.
The Kia Seltos and the Hyundai Creta share many of the mechanicals with each other. Both have been built on the same platform and share the same engines and transmissions. Both these SUVs come powered by a 1.5 petrol, 1.5 diesel and a 1.4 turbocharged petrol engines and get 7-speed dual-clutch auto, IVT, 6 MT and 6 AT on offer as well.
