Hurray! First time in its 34-year-old off-road history, Jeep dropped its Hemi-V8 engine in the Wrangler.
Wrangler Rubicon 392, the number refers to the engine’s capacity in cubic-inches, the new offroader comes with the massive 6.4L naturally aspirated petrol V8!
To be offered only in 4 door guise, the Wrangler 392 claims to do 0-100kmph in 4.5secs, POWAAAH! The far priced Mercedes-AMG G63 takes about the same!
Wrangler Rubicon 392 will only be offered with an eight speed automatic box putting out power through a full time four-wheel drive system.
Jeep claims the quarter mile munch to commence in 13 secs, making this the fastest Wrangler ever made. A two mode quad-exhaust system will take care for the aural pleasures.
Jeep didn’t miss out on improvising the off-road capabilities of this monster. A 51mm lift kit comes standard improvising approach and departure angles slightly over the regular one. It can wade through nearly 830mm deep water, with a special air induction system designed to divert as much as 68 liters of water per minute away from the engine.
An array of suspension and chassis upgrades include, heavy duty axles, upgraded frame rails and upper control arms, electronic locking differential and Fox aluminium monotube dampers.
Apart from the usual range of new badging (of course that counts) the notable visual changes are, a new bonnet design with an air scoop, took in from the Gladiator Mojave pick-up truck. On the inside, bronze trim elements and the wheel-mounted shift paddles finished in Aluminium stand out.
The Rubicon 392 will be a full series production model in the America, sadly no word on whether it will come to India as of now. The prices aren’t disclosed yet, it is expected to be priced at around $70000 (Rs 52Lakhs) in the US market.
