Upcoming Kia Sonet Teased, We Uncovered It Digitally!

The Kia Sonet is hoped to hit the roads by September, the official reveal will take place on August 7

The third product from Kia Motors India is going to be a compact crossover SUV, dubbed the Sonet. Kia is set to reveal the production-spec Kia Sonet on August 7,2020. With days still left for the official unveil, KIA has now teased us with a few images of the Sonet through an online campaign. The latest video from the carmaker lets you cast a quick cum vague glance at the rear of the car.

Judging by the video clip, the production-spec Kia Sonet remains quite close to the concept previously showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. Save for a few subtle changes, almost everything remains the same as the concept. The teaser shows the car to have a lip spoiler and rear wiper. The LED tail lamp cluster resembles the one previously seen on the concept, except for the fact that the lateral running LED strip of the latter has been replaced with a reflector strip on the production car. The rear windscreen seems sharply raked.

Needless to mention, the Sonet will share a fair share of equipment and features with the Hyundai Venue and will be placed below the Seltos in Kia’s array. The Photoshop nerds at Vroom Head India tried doing some tweaks on the teaser image to get a more lucid idea of the Sonet and here’s what we got. The sub-four meter SUV would have a bold front fascia with a chromed tiger-nose grille with contrasting red accents, stunning LED Daytime running lamps, and blackened wheel arches with beautiful 16-inch alloys, etc.

Kia would most likely include a 10.25 inch touchscreen infotainment system, premium Bose audio, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, wireless charger and a sunroof in the Sonet. A few segment-first features are also expected to further beef up the offering.

On the mechanical front, 1.2 petrol, 1.5 diesel, and 1.0L turbo petrol engines are expected. In addition to the automatics, the Sonet would also come with the Kia guise of the Hyundai iMT ( Intelligent Manual Transmission) clutchless manual box.

The Sonnet would be entering a highly competitive segment upon launch, and would have to face fierce competition from a plethora of rivals including the Hyundai Venue! The other players of this segment include Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport, Honda WRV, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, and the upcoming Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
