2023, so far has been a fantastic year for the Indian automotive industry. The first month of the year hosted the Auto Expo at Delhi and witnessed a number of new launches, facelifts, concepts etc. From electric vehicles to powerful SUVs, the upcoming cars in India are expected to add more momentum to the industry. In this article, we’ll introduce you to 8 of the most highly anticipated cars that will be launching in the coming months.
Toyota Innova Crysta diesel
Toyota Innova Crysta diesel has been out of the market for quite some time. But now the Japanese automakers have reintroduced the diesel version of the Crysta into the Indian markets. The Crysta will now come with a 2.4-litre diesel powertrain only. Toyota also has the Innova Hycross in the Indian market, making this the first time ever, having two Innova models sold simultaneously. Revised front bumper, grille and fog lamp housing are the main highlights of the Innova Crysta as it makes its comeback.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG
CNG powered vehicles are becoming more common on our roads. But a CNG with an automatic transmission is not what you see every day. When launched, the Brezza CNG will be the first Indian CNG car with an automatic gearbox, making it a very special launch of the first half of the year. The Brezza will be powered by the 1.5- litre K15C DualJet engine, which is also seen in the Ertiga and XL6. 100hp and 136NM will be the power output in petrol mode and the CNG mode can produce 88hp and 121.5Nm. The Brezza is mated to a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission whereas the Ertiga and XL6 CNG get only a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Hyundai Verna
The updated Verna has been in the topics for quite some time now. Reports are suggesting that the 2023 Verna will be launched in India very soon. It will carry the 1.5-litre petrol engine putting out 115hp and may also introduce the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with around 160hp. The major highlights of the next gen Verna will be the noticeable design changes, twin-screen set-up, and advanced ADAS features.
Citroen eC3
Citroen has launched their the all-electric eC3, making it the French automaker’s 3rd car in India. The eC3 is visually identical to its ICE powered twin, the C3 hatchback. The only noticeable differences are the absence of exhaust pipe and the charging port on the front fender. The eC3 holds a drive selector in the place of the gear lever. The electric hatchback will come with a 29.2kWh battery with an ARAI certified range of 320km. Its front-axle-mounted motor is capable of producing 57hp and 143Nm.

Updated Hyundai Venue
The latest generation Venue was launched in India in June 2022, and its been in the top of the sales charts ever since. Now Hyundai is giving its compact SUV a new diesel powertrain. The much familiar 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Creta, will power the new Venue, offering it 115hp of power. The update will also get an integrated starter generator (ISG) with start-stop function.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
The all new Baleno based compact-SUV from Maruti Suzuki was revealed at the Auto Expo along with the Jimny. The new SUV is offered with two engine options, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.2-litre petrol. Both the models are mated to a five-speed manual transmission. However the turbo- petrol will get a 6-speed automatic and the petrol gets an AMT gearbox. The Fronx will be sold through Nexa outlets and will rival Citroen C3, Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger.
Lexus RX
Lexus’ fifth gen RX was showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and is expected to be launched in the Indian markets soon. The Lexus will be available in two trims , a 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, RX 350h Luxury and RX 500h F Sport Performance. The 2.4L engine is paired to a CVT, while the 2.5 L turbo petrol engine is coupled with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Both will get strong hybrid assist too.
Honda City facelift
The 2020 released fifth-generation Honda City is getting an update this year. It’ll include little cosmetic changes such as the revised front and rear bumpers and new alloy wheels. New features like ventilated seats and wireless chargers are also expected in the update. A more affordable version of the City e:HEV will also be introduced into the line-up. The city is part of the three new launches Honda has in plans for 2023.
