Key displays, launches and more from the Tata Motors pavilion…
One of the biggest automotive manufacturers in India celebrated the return of Auto Expo by setting up one of the most jaw-dropping pavilions at its 16th edition. They had over ten vehicles on display, ranging from concepts to production vehicles, and special editions. The brand also showcased some exciting vehicles from its commercial fleet. Here’s a rundown of all the enthralling vehicles displayed by Tata Motors at the 2023 Auto Expo.
Tata Sierra EV
The Sierra is one of the most iconic names in Tata’s history, and the resurrection of that title is surely something to rejoice about. Tata presented a pre-production concept model of the Sierra EV at the 2023 Auto Expo. Yes, you read it right, an EV!
Tata showcased an initial concept at the previous Auto Expo in 2020. That model has evolved a lot over time and the near-production form is a substantial leap from the earlier concept. The Sierra is expected to be launched within the next couple of years.

Tata Harrier EV
The Harrier EV was a major subject of interest at the Auto Expo as it’s an all-electric version of a model that has already proven its mettle in the market. It was received well by the public.
The Harrier EV is underpinned by a platform that’s a healthy blend of the Omega architecture and the Gen 2 EV architecture. It’s said to be a dual-motor, AWD, electric midsize SUV. The Harrier EV is expected to go on sale by 2024.
Tata Curvv
Tata presented a gorgeous electric vehicle concept called Curvv in April last year. It is an electric midsize SUV coupe that’ll step foot in the market within one year. However, at the 2023 Auto Expo, Tata pulled the wraps off a pre-production concept of the petrol-powered variant of the Curvv. It’s very much the same as the electrified version in terms of design and proportions. The EV concept of the Curvv was presented in a metallic baby blue shade, while the petrol-powered version is sporting the Blaze Red shade.
The Curvv will be the first car to get the new 125 HP, 1.2L TGDI turbo-petrol engine. It will be offered in two states of tune-190 Nm and 225 Nm. The sportier variants of the Curvv might pack the 225Nm tune. It’ll first debut as an EV, with the ICE model following later.
Tata Avinya
Tata had an onslaught of concepts adoring their pavilion and the Avinya was one of them. Presented just days after the debut of the Curvv, this electric concept marks the third step in Tata’s ambitious electrification strategy.
It’s underpinned by the more advanced Generation 3 architecture from Tata, instead of Generation 2 that serves as the foundation of the Curvv. The 3rd Generation chassis is built around the battery and the electric motors. The Avinya is expected to be launched by the end of 2025.

Tata Altroz Racer
Surprises are nice, but surprises like this one are exceptional. The Altroz Racer was one such surprise presented by Tata at the 2023 Auto Expo. This sizzling, sporty hatch is Tata’s response to the Hyundai i20 N Line.
Keeping aside the dual stripes, the livery and other visual additions, Tata has got their hands wet and tweaked it mechanically as well. Lurking under the hood is the same 1.2L turbo 3-cylinder engine that’s found in the Nexon Petrol. Tata is currently evaluating the Altroz Racer for a market launch in India.
Tata Tiago EV Blitz
Along with the Altroz Racer, Tata also spiced up the Tiago EV and made it sportier than ever. The ‘Blitz’ version of the Tiago EV gets rid of the electric blue accents and features an all-black trim, a new gloss black air dam with vertical angular slats, flared-out wheel arches, and a black tailgate-integrated spoiler.
Another distinguishable feature between the Tiago EV Blitz and the standard Tiago EV is the blue bolt motif alongside the “EV” badge on the grille, front doors and tailgate. The interior stays similar to the regular model, except for the blue bolt motif embroidered on the headrests. The Tiago EV Blitz will be launched in FY2024. Tata also had the regular Tiago EV on display at the show.
Tata Altroz and Punch iCNG
Tata unveiled the iCNG variants of the Punch compact SUV and the Altroz hatchback. The Punch iCNG packs a 1.2L 3-cylinder with 77 HP in CNG mode. The Altroz iCNG packs the same motor. Both cars get a dual-cylinder setup, which solves the lack of boot space with CNG vehicles. Both cars come with two 30-litre tanks.
There’s no change in the feature list of the Punch iCNG, but the Altroz iCNG does get some additional features like leatherette seats, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, etc. Both models will enter the markets later this year.

Tata Harrier and Safari Red Dark Edition
The Harrier and the Safari received a new special edition trim called the Red Dark Edition. Both cars sport a new colour called Oberon Black, new red insert on the grille, red brake callipers, spicy red upholstery on the inside, and lots more.
Both models even receive a larger infotainment screen, new digital instrument panel, JBL audio system, 360-degree camera, and a suite of ADAS features. The Harrier and Safari Red Dark Editions are mechanically unchanged as compared to their regular counterparts.

Tata Commercial Vehicles
Tata Motors also showcased an array of commercial vehicles at the 2023 Auto Expo. The commercial fleet included the all-new Winger, Ace EV, Intra BiFuel (India’s First Bi-Fuel pickup), Prima E.28K electric tipper, Signa G.48T (India’s Highest Payload CNG truck), Ultra E.9 (city truck for the Intermediate & Light Commercial Vehicles segment) Yodha CNG pickup, Starbus EV bus, Magic EV electric van, Prima E.55S (Industry First, Hydrogen-powered truck), Prima G.35K LNG tipper, Prima H.55S hydrogen truck, Starbus EV Fuel Cell (India’s First, Hydrogen Fuel Cell bus), and the all-new Azure T.19 truck.
